The Generation 1 ozone arrangement shown in the video: a separate generator, tubing to the filter housing and two one-way valves. This guide does not establish compatibility with other Plunge models or every replacement kit.
Who should use this: Established DIY topic; customer use only for the verified matching procedure and parts. Uncertain cases go to Repairs.
Before starting
Before disconnecting leads or opening the electrical enclosure, switch off and unplug the entire Plunge from its wall supply. Keep plugs and the electrical enclosure dry. Do not work on energized equipment, splice wires or open the controller itself. Use the matching replacement supplied for this repair. If the installed equipment or replacement differs from the guide, stop and ask Plunge Support for the correct procedure.
Have the matching replacement generator instructions and its tubing/check-valve diagram available before removal. Verify the required two-valve arrangement and orientation first. If the supplied instructions are absent or disagree with the installed arrangement, stop for Repairs confirmation; do not remove or bypass a valve to make the tubing fit.
Video
Read the preparation and completion steps as well as watching the video; the video alone omits some of them.
Steps
- Before removing anything, identify the generator and the replacement supplied for this repair. Photograph the tubing route, both one-way valves, the cable route and the plug location.
- Trace the ozone generator lead into the electrical box. Find its two-prong plug in the cable bundle and disconnect that plug. Release the cable ties needed to free the lead without cutting the lead or tubing. The video skips one tie for the demonstration; do not pull against an attached tie.
- Loosen the screws securing the generator and remove it. Keep the mounting hardware for the matching replacement.
- Position the replacement at the original mounting location and secure it with the specified mounting hardware.
- Connect the supplied tubing according to the replacement kit instructions. Retain the specified one-way-valve arrangement and orientation. If that information is missing or differs from the original assembly, stop for Repairs confirmation instead of guessing.
- Route and reconnect the generator lead to its original approved plug location. Secure the cable clear of moving parts and pinch points, then close the electrical box before reconnecting power.
Check the result
Verify that the tubing and electrical connections match the approved replacement configuration and check for water entering the ozone line or leaking at the connection. Stop and contact Support if the arrangement cannot be verified. Visible bubbles do not establish that the ozone generator is providing effective disinfection.
