Water Filter Housing Replacement Instructions

Power Down Plunge

• Pause the chiller by pressing the pause button on the UI
  • ⚠️ Powering down the Plunge while it's in a cooling cycle can damage the chiller. 
• Press the test button on the GFCI outlet to power down the Plunge.
• Unplug the GFCI outlet from the outlet.

🚨 Important: Do not power down the Plunge before pausing the chiller.

Drain The Plunge

• Remove the right ventilation screen. Opposite of the filter housing. 
• Locate the main drain manifold at the bottom and remove the cap from the spigot.
• Attach a garden hose or inline pump to the spigot 
• Turn the valve on the spigot and the water should flow out
• Turn the valve to close the spigot and install the cap back on.

Remove Chiller Vents and Thumb Nuts

• Remove both chiller vent panels.

• Unscrew all 5 thumb nuts:

  • 3 from the left chiller vent

  • 2 from the right chiller vent

• Note: One of the nuts may be an 8mm hex nut, use socket if necessary.

Remove Rear Cover

• Grab the rear cover by the vent openings and slowly pull and wiggle the rear cover free. 

Disconnect Plumbing Manifolds From Water Filter Housing

• Locate the TH-1 manifold connected to the side of the water filter housing.

• Unscrew the union fitting to disconnect the TH-1 manifold.

• Locate the Flow Meter manifold connected to the back of the water filter housing.

• Unscrew the union fitting to disconnect the Flow Meter manifold.

Disconnect Water Filter Housing From Tub

• Wrap the hex bolt driver in a towel or rag to protect the plastic nut from damage.
• Locate the notched corner of the plastic nut securing the water filter housing and align the wrapped hex bolt driver with the notch.
• Loosen the Plastic Nut by using a rubber mallet or hammer and GENTLY TAP the end of the wrapped driver

  • 🚨 Apply soft, controlled strikes — go slow and steady to avoid cracking the plastic

• Once the nut is loose enough, finish unthreading it by hand.
• Use one hand to support the bottom of the water filter housing as the nut is removed.

Remove Water Filter Housing From Tub

• Confirm that all plumbing manifolds have been disconnected from the water filter housing.

• Carefully lift the water filter housing straight up and out of the tub cutout.

• Move slowly and with control to avoid contact with the compressor, tubing, or components below the housing.

• Once clear of surrounding parts, set the failed housing aside.

Install New Water Filter Housing To Tub

• Position the replacement water filter housing in the same orientation as the original.

• Ensure the lower threaded manifold is facing toward the basin of the tub.

• Make sure the upper threaded manifold is facing to the right side (toward the fan)—this aligns with the TH-1 connection.

• Tilt the top of the filter housing upward and guide it into the cutout hole in the tub.

• Once inserted, gently rest the filter housing in place for final alignment and securing.

Reconnect Water Filter Assembly

• Lift the water filter housing and align it with the threaded post on the tub.

  • 🚨 Ensure the two nodes on top of water filter housing line of with two cutouts where the water filter housing mounts to the tub.

• Begin threading the plastic nut onto the post by hand, ensuring it is not cross-threaded.

• Once the nut is hand-tight, wrap a towel or rag around a hex bolt driver to protect the plastic.

• Place the wrapped driver against one of the nut’s notches and gently tap with a rubber mallet to snug it into place.

• Apply light, controlled taps until the nut is fully tightened and the water filter housing is secure.

• Ensure the housing is firmly seated and does not move or shift when lightly pushed.

Connect Plumbing Manifolds To Water Filter Housing

• Locate the Flow Meter manifold and position it at the back of the water filter housing.

• Ensure the black O-ring is in place on the union fitting before connecting.

• Hand-tighten the union—if it doesn’t screw on easily, stop and back it out to avoid cross-threading.

• Re-align and retry until it threads smoothly, then tighten fully by hand to prevent leaks.

• Next, position the TH-1 manifold on the side of the water filter housing.

• Hand-tighten the TH-1 union fitting until it is secure.

Test for Leaks

⚠️ Warning: The chiller fan is exposed during testing. Keep hands, tools, and loose items away from the fan to avoid injury or equipment damage.

• Fill the Plunge up with water so the water line is 6" below the edge of the tub.

• Plug in the Plunge and press the “Reset” button on the GFCI plug to power it on.

• Set the temperature to 50 degrees so pump powers to 100%.

• Allow the Plunge to run and observe the chiller plumbing union connections.

• Carefully inspect all union fittings for any signs of leaking while the system is running.

• If a leak is found, pause the system and recheck that the union is properly seated and hand-tightened.

🚨 If you power down the chiller while in a cooling cycle it can damage the chiller.

• Unplug the GFCI outlet from the outlet.

Install Rear Cover & Chiller Vents

• Slide the rear cover into place.

• Install all 6 thumb nuts (3 per side).

• Reinstall left and right vent panels.
